logologistykaThe modern business environment is subject to on-going changes. It is a result of progress towards more effective solutions for production and logistics organization, as well as the innovations in processes, technology and products. The recent organized conference OiE2010 addressed the above issues, the main topic of the conference being: "Innovations in logistics and production – new concepts, solutions and methods".

The scope of subjects covered by the conference resulted in a number of interesting discussions held during panel sessions as well as lively exchange of opinions also during the meetings of an informal nature. The conference was a good opportunity to exchange ideas, concepts and solutions between the scholars and representatives of the business sector. Furthermore, one should also note extraordinary lectures by, among others, Professor Koichi Shintani presented research on the possibility of using foldable containers for decreasing the fleet management costs and management of containers in a marine trading network.

During the main session, a representative of Open Nexus Sp z o.o., Mr. Zygmunt Kopacz presented an internet-based B2B platform (www.opennexus.pl) that is designed to support the supply and sales of products. In the view of the lecturer, the said platform is characterized by a wide functionality which allows e.g. to methodize purchase procedures, shorten the process duration or obtain better trade deals. It allows for using modules for circulation of approvals of internal orders, aggregation of various companies and qualification of suppliers. The platform is used by a group of companies with an international reputation.

Another conference attraction was the speech given by Professor Andrzej Bujak concerning the concept of Underground Automated Highways. The lecturer presented the concept sources and assumptions. He also highlighted the benefits and drawbacks relating to the implementation of this solution. Also other lectures inspired many discussions and comments both during the session and breaks.
